AVID has today announced two new amplifiers, continuing its blizzard of news that has featured the Velsonic, Pellar II and Pulsus II phono stages, as well as the Ingenium SE and the Relveo turntables.
The OPUS Pre and OPUS Power amplifiers are claimed to be perfectly matched with a view to offering AVID’s electronics to a wider audience.
AVID claims the OPUS Pre;
exploits arguably the world’s finest volume control, the ALPS RK50, now enhanced with a newly integrated remote operation. The result is exceptional transparency, dynamic expression and a level of realism that makes every recording a spellbinding experience.
The OPUS Pre draws technology from the CELSUS Pre, including the toroidal transformer from their flagship product. The OPUS Pre incorporates the Pulsus II phono stage, which has its own 35VA transformer. This phono stage in the OPUS Pre supports both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges.
The OPUS Power has a massive 1.1KVA toroidal transformer with a huge 132,000μF of reservoir capacitance, providing enormous power reserves. The custom design features premium polypropylene capacitors and balanced or single-ended connectivity.
