Oh boy, this is not my bag. Psychedelic music needs to be listened to with drugs, and I don’t do drugs… dude! In the words of Billy Mack, don’t buy drugs, kids…. You know the rest….
This album seems to be a 7 track cover of Bo Diddley’s Who Do You Love, with a few apologetic bolt-ons on the second side. Fortunately for me, Led Zeppelin I is next, so I can satisfy myself that this is done. There is simply nothing here for me, just overindulgent music, although Jimmy Page will have something to say about overindulgent guitar licks, but I am prepared to overlook his genius.
So I’ll pass on this for now. Frank Zappa’s We’re Only in It for the Money (138) was lucky to get a rating, as was Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica (140). This is in the same bracket. Led Zeppelin I, here I come.
