Audio Technology Switzerland has announced the release of the Nagra AMP II-S, a high-end stereo power amplifier and the newest addition to its Series II electronics line. Designed as the natural partner to the PREAMP II-S while remaining versatile enough for various high-end setups, the AMP II-S is built around Nagra’s core principles of musical coherence, transparency, and refinement.
The new amplifier serves as the direct successor to the acclaimed Nagra Classic AMP introduced in 2015. Rather than abandoning its predecessor’s foundation, Nagra’s engineering team drew on more than a decade of additional expertise—including breakthroughs from its flagship HD and Reference lines—to improve every critical area of the amplifier, including the power supply, input stage, thermal management, and mechanical housing.
Technically, the AMP II-S features an updated linear power supply driven by a custom 800 VA potted transformer, delivering 120 W RMS per channel into 8 ohms (with the first 10 W in Class A). It incorporates a single pair of MOSFET output transistors per channel, a new Reference AMP-derived input board, a massive CNC-machined heatsink, and Nagra’s iconic front-panel Modulometer. Together, Nagra claims these enhancements deliver improved spatial definition, greater dynamic range, and deeper bass.
Nagra’s distributor, Absolute Sounds, has brought the AMP II-S to the UK with a recommended retail price of £21,998 inc. VAT.
The Nagra AMP II-S made its world premiere at The Happening, organised by Absolute Sounds at Haycock Manor Hotel in the United Kingdom on October 17–18, 2026.
The Series II philosophy
With the AMP II-S joining the PREAMP II-S, Nagra continues to develop a family of components that draws upon decades of experience in professional recording and high-end audio reproduction. Combining the company’s engineering heritage with technologies refined through its HD and Reference ranges, Series II embodies Nagra’s enduring commitment to musical authenticity.
About Audio Technology Switzerland
The Nagra story began in 1951 with Stefan Kudelski and the creation of the first Nagra recorder. Over the following decades, Nagra became one of the most recognised names in professional recording, earning numerous distinctions, including Academy Awards® for its contribution to motion-picture sound. In 2012, Audio Technology Switzerland S.A. was created from the former NAGRA Audio division. Still largely owned by the Kudelski family, the company today manufactures and markets Nagra professional, high-end audio and security products, continuing the tradition of engineering, innovation and sound quality associated with NAGRA.
