Qobuz Album of the Week

Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.

Harry Styles (Qobuz 24-bit, 96kHz)

Credit, or blame, Harry Styles for the wave of spangle-friendly male singers who are more “rock” leaning than your average pop star: Sombr, Benson Boone, Role Model. So it will be interesting to see what the Harry effect is after his fourth album. Styles doesn’t totally flip the script—there’s no mistaking that this is the same guy who did “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” or “Watermelon Sugar,” though there is nothing here as immediate as “As It Was.” But he does show that, at 32, he’s in an exploratory phase and discovering music by the likes of Can and late ’70s post-punk outfit The Durutti Column. And, forgive the unintended pun, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally is a stylish affair.
