Qobuz Album of the Week

Pale Blue Eyes - New Place - 24-Bit, 44.1kHz

As its title suggests, this third album from British band Pale Blue Eyes is all about the seismic personal shifts that come with moving to a New Place. In twelve tracks, Matt and Lucy Board, the couple at the heart of this Totnes trio’s songwriting, track their move from Devonshire’s coastal pastures to the urban industrialism of Sheffield in South Yorkshire. “The album arrives on the back of extensive and emotional transit, a record of time reflecting on a lifetime of memories— but now beside a world of new beginnings,” explains Matt Board in New Place’s release notes.
