Dominique Fils-Aimé’s fifth album opens with her mother singing an old Patricia Carli tune, “Ma Mélodie.” This fragile cassette recording is followed by the sound of waves, and then “Sea of Clouds,” a soothing sonic halo in which Fils-Aimé’s voice truly radiates. My World Is The Sun is the second instalment of a trilogy that began with Our Roots Run Deep in 2023. By casting the maternal figure as the guiding light of this new record, Fils-Aimé sets the tone: My World Is The Sun is primarily about transmission and love, as well as a return to the feelings of childhood.
