FiiO launch flagship FT15 planar headphones

FiiO has officially introduced the FT15 planar over-ear headphones, priced at $499. Building on the award-winning FT5, the FT15 features massive 101mm drivers with an effective radiating area of 6,443.5mm² designed to create an open, spacious soundstage. At its core is an ultra-thin 800nm diaphragm—86.7% thinner than the previous generation—treated with FiiO’s proprietary full-face diamond coating for increased rigidity, rapid transient response, and reduced distortion across the spectrum.

Engineering highlights include a patented uniform magnetic field structure and a precision electroplated voice coil constructed via 28nm chip-grade technology for enhanced long-term durability. Designed for high efficiency and versatility across varied gear setups, the FT15 features a low 24-ohm impedance and 95dB/mW sensitivity, making it remarkably easy to drive using anything from portable USB DAC dongles to dedicated desktop amplifiers.

The physical build pairs North American FAS-grade black walnut earcups with a lightweight carbon fibre headband, keeping total weight to 425g for extended listening comfort. The package comes well-equipped, including two sets of distinct earpads, a storage case, and a cryogenically treated 6N monocrystalline copper cable with a 4.4mm balanced connector alongside 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR adapters.
