Good News today from Chord Electronics. They announced this morning that the Mojo 2 has been refined with a few important updates. The first of these is a new 4.4mm headphone output. Further, the device’s existing USB-C input is now enabled for both data and charging.

Another nice improvement is that both the 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm outputs have independent volume memory, allowing precise output level settings for different headphones.

The full technical specification will be on the Chord Electronics site and you can read the Best of 2022 HF&MS review here. The two updates have been implemented without increasing the price of Mojo 2, which will remain at £395.

Chord Electronics Ltd is a world-leading manufacturer of high-performance hi-fi and audio products. Since 1989, from its spectacular riverside base in Kent, England, Chord Electronics has been creating some of the planet’s finest hi-fi, home cinema and professional audio equipment. About the Mojo 2
Chord Electronics says;
The British-designed, engineered, and built Mojo 2 is a highly advanced portable digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier based on proprietary technology.
Engineered around an enormously powerful, custom-coded FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) processor, the Mojo 2 uses Chord Electronics’ proprietary digital audio code, which has been perfected and refined over more than two decades. This unique architecture delivers class-leading sound quality, whether used on the go with headphones or as a desktop or hi-fi system component.
Key to the Mojo 2 is the world’s first lossless Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The innovative ‘UHD DSP’ is fully transparent, enabling comprehensive tone adjustments across the frequency range without any degradation in sound quality. This unique technology gives Mojo 2 unrivalled adaptability when connected to other hardware, plus exceptional control over digital music regardless of age, recording quality or genre.
A further key feature over the original Mojo is the introduction of a button-operated menu system bringing a mute function, a four-setting crossfeed adjustment, a button-lock feature for travelling, plus control over the lossless tone controls and USB-C charging.
The Mojo 2 also boasts greatly improved battery management through a new FPGA-based charging system, which ensures faster, cooler, and more efficient charging, with a 75% reduction in power loss and a minimum battery life of over eight hours. It also features an improved Intelligent Desktop Mode, allowing for permanent connection to a power source without compromising sound quality or battery longevity.
Digital inputs include the (newly updated) switchable USB-C data/charging port, Micro-USB data, optical, and coaxial (including dual-data for use with the M Scaler).
Handmade in the UK, the precision CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminium chassis offers peerless build quality, befitting its status as the leading portable DAC device. Thanks to the continued use of Micro-USB, the Mojo 2 remains fully compatible with the Poly streamer/server module for wireless streaming flexibility and Micro SD card playback.
