Meze Audio is celebrating 10 years of iconic sound and design with a second generation of the 99 Classics. It features 10 “meaningful upgrades” to the original headphones, which are a classic in design, as the name suggests.
The new Meze Audio 99 Classics feature a refined tuning aimed at extracting more from the midrange and treble, with improved clarity. There is also an upgrade to the driver-matching process that should enhance imaging between pairs of headphones. The cup size has also been increased to align with the new tuning, improving acoustic sealing and enhancing bass response. Meze Audio has also introduced a new ear pad system with a secure clip-in system.
Other new upgrades include a DAC/AMP dongle with a gold-plated adapter for smartphones, and a new 1.8 m dual-twisted Kevlar-sheathed OFC conductor with a 3.5 mm jack.
The technical specification is on the site. The headlines are of a 40mm dynamic driver with a wide frequency range of 15 Hz – 25 kHz and impedance of just 16 Ω. Sensitivity is 103 dB SPL/mW at 1 kHz. The ear cups are made of walnut wood, and the 99Classics weigh in at 290 g.

The second generation of the 99 Classics headphones will be available for purchase starting October 29th, 2025, on mezeaudio.com, mezeaudio.eu and in selected retailers worldwide, with a suggested retail price of $349/€349.
