Bang & Olufsen launches Beosound A5
Good news today; Bang & Olufsen has launched a new portable Beosound A5 speaker. It has been designed in collaboration with the Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi.
Bang & Olufsen VP of Product Marketing, Michael Henriksson says:
Beosound A5 is our new high-end portable speaker which combines Bang & Olufsen’s long-standing approach to timeless design with our vision of sound for the future, We’re excited to collaborate with GamFratesi for the first time, to create two speaker designs that are rooted in a Scandinavian aesthetic with a distinct design signature on their own.
GamFratesi says:
Our inspiration for Beosound A5 came from many places including the iconic Beolit series as well as natural materials synonymous with the colours and textures found in Scandinavian nature. From the traditional Panama straw hats worn on beaches to the hand-woven leather accents of Danish chairs from the 1960s, blends of natural materials applied in experimental ways guided our design journey.
The Beosound A5 is full ‘outdoors portable’ with an IP65 water and dustproof rating. It offers 12 hours of playback and it has a wireless phone charger integrated into the top panel of the speaker.
The A5 can be operated from the sleek controls on the top or from the Bang & Olufsen App. It can also be controlled using, Airplay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth 5.2. The A5s can be paired in stereo mode if desired.
Inside the Beasound A5, there is a four-way driver setup with four digital amplifiers providing a combined 280 watts of power. There is a single 5.25″ woofer, two 2″ midrange drivers and a tweeter.
There are two colour schemes offered by B&O via GamFratesi. One is in natural aluminium with a woven paper fibre front that incorporates a light oak handle. The second
is a black anthracite aluminium version paired with a dark oak wood speaker cover. The former is 899 GBP or 999 EUR, and the dark oak is 999 GBP / 1099 EUR. They are available online and in-store from today.
