Kerr Acoustic K400 announced

Introduction

Kerr Acoustic has announced the new K400 compact loudspeaker, which employs Jes Kerr’s proprietary transmission-line loading.  The K400 can be wall- or ceiling-mounted, a first from Kerr Acoustics. The K400 is well-suited to Dolby Atmos and other AV solutions, as well as smaller room audiophile systems.

The two-way loudspeaker uses a 150mm Scanspeak mid-bass unit paired with a 45mm true-ribbon tweeter in a 24mm Baltic birch plywood baffle with 18mm BBP sides, top and bottom.  There is 12mm internal bracing.

Designer Jes Kerr says;

It takes many of the same ingredients and design philosophy that make our K300 so special, and presents them in a more compact format that opens them up to users seeking a more compact loudspeaker. Due to its size, it’s also ideal for Dolby Atmos and other surround installations.

He adds;

“We’ve been using Scanspeak’s 180mm Revelator driver in our K300 and K320 for some time, and found its performance to be incredibly hard to beat. Incorporating the smaller version into the K400 was a natural step.
