News this week from the ISE tech show in Barcelona on a new Focal Utopia Cinema range, designed for larger rooms, over 200m2.  There is a three-way loudspeaker LCR and a new subwoofer called SUB.  The LCR is a centre, left and/or right loudspeaker that is heavily customisable, with various adjustments offered at the front of the unit.  The LCR features a one-and-a-half-inch ‘M’-shaped beryllium tweeter and a five-inch ‘M’-shaped midrange with a ‘W’ cone.  Finally, there is a thirteen-inch ‘W’-cone woofer complemented by a large forward-facing vent.

The Utopia SUB is tuned down to 19Hz and comprises two thirteen-inch woofers. Both loudspeaker units can be mounted horizontally or vertically. The SUB weighs nearly 80kg, and the LCR weighs 52kg for in-wall and on-wall applications.

UK pricing will be confirmed closer to the availability date, which is September this year. The only price indications so far are Cinema LCR, which is priced at US$11,999, and Cinema SUB, which is available for US$5,999.
