Sivga S02 open ear headphones

Many good things are happening with Chinese consumer electronics as we have discussed here at HF&MS, we know all about Auralic and Eversolo but the likes of Sivga with their excellent Robin, Apollo and Oriole headphones are making great strides (the Apollo are by Sendy Audio but this is a subsidiary of Sivga).  Now they are moving to on-ear products.  This, then,  is a quick look at the Sivga S02 open ear headphones, these are the type that sits over the ear, rather than in the ear. I’ve been a big fan of the Tozo version of this, however these Sivga S02 open ears are a slight step up, here’s why.

The Sivga S02s are more ergonomic on the ear if that is possible, over the Tozo Openbuds.  There is a curved surface away from the ear cavity that eases physical pressure.  I have found the battery life to be faultless, particularly combined with the curved and pocket-friendly charging case. Battery life easily exceeds a day’s use, Sivga claim 30 hours with the case topping up the battery but I have not had the chance to find the end game with these batteries. My ONLY quibble is I would have liked this charging case to have a wireless charging option.  In all instances, the connection has been faultless and instantaneous. You can wear them one-on and one in the case if you’re walking the dog and listening to a book or a podcast.

I’m finding the touch control is more intuitive with these Sivga S02 open ears.

General Use

I’m using these Sivga S02 open ears all day at the moment, from the dog walk in the morning, to the office and all phone calls (the Sivga S02 open ear has 4 mic noise cancelling in phone calls).  When I’m on a break, there’s no need to remove the on-ears.  I’m finding the Sivga S02 open ears last all day and I have no pain or issue all day.  On the rowing machine, they are stable, sweat proof and Sivga claims, in any case, they are waterproof.

Call reception is simple with a double tap on the right ear to receive the call.

Sound Quality

You are not buying these open-ear headphones for serious critical listening.  However, if you do want to listen to music, these Sivga S02 open ear are excellent, in open-back terms.  Yes the external environment bleeds into your listening, leaving you traffic or conversation aware but the presentation is solid and vibrant, I get a nice wide soundstage, the bass is fairly light but the midrange and vocal range are very pleasant indeed.  There is no hint of fatigue in the high end.

Overall

There is everything to recommend these Sivga S02 open ear and I do so unreservedly.  With one permanently on my ear all day how can I not?
