News this week of the WiiM Pro Plus that has been announced by parent company Linkplay Technology. The WiiM Pro Plus builds on the popular WiiM Pro audio streamer that is frequently cited as the go-to entry to the streaming field.
The Plus bit of this WiiM Pro Plus is threefold;
- there is a new TI Burr-Brown Audio PCM1861 ADC (see below),
- an enhanced clock, power, and circuit design, offering less noise in the audio processing and,
- a new generation AKM 4493SEQ premium DAC, that supports up to 768 kHz PCM and DSD512.
The high-end Analogue to Digital (ADC) chip can take line-in signals, from say a turntable and make it available to your own network, either in WiFi, or Ethernet or you can send it to RCA, TOSLINK or Coax outputs. This is therefore centralising your music around a single point without having to compromise your existing equipment. It is quite a simple idea. Dr Lifeng Zhao, CEO of Linkplay Technology said:

WiiM Pro Plus supports… just about everything; AirPlay 2, Alexa Casting, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and more. It also features Chromecast Audio, which lets you cast YouTube Music, TV audio, etc from your Chromecast-enabled App (like a smartphone). Roon Ready certification is apparently on the way. There is a WiiM Home App too.
The WiiM Pro Plus is sold as a bundle with a voice remote. It will go on sale in the UK, this month, August 2023, priced at £219.00.
