The opening track, ‘American Beauty’ is a perfectly pitched introduction to the band with the opening lyric, over an acoustic guitar

Oh, wonderful music; a new artist for me but clearly these guys have been around for a while with several albums under their belt.  Without wishing to label this music, I do like ‘Americana’, as Holcomb calls this, indie folk rock to the rest.  I liken this listening to my ‘The War on Drugs’ experience last year.  Just really, really passionate, well produced music, soft voice, great lyrics and rhythmic, soulful music. Admittedly, I’m listening to this lossless on Tidal Music Streaming so it is crystal clear and through a pair of Oppo PM-2s it sounds, room next door, just by the mixing desk, good.

The opening track, ‘American Beauty’ is a perfectly pitched introduction to the band with the opening lyric, over an acoustic guitar, ‘She was a good companion, eyes like the grand canyon’.   Love it.  Some may call this Nashville cheese, but it is delivered so effortlessly and passionately you are immediately drawn in.  ‘Heartbreak’ is similarly littered with wonderful lyrics and continues the theme of melancholy and life experience set to great music.  The album perks up towards the second half of the album and closes appropriately, ‘Ain’t nobody got it easy’ is a fine piece of song writing.

Wonderful new artist for me, great music. Thank you

Sadly for me,  Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors are playing Nottingham on Sunday and the UK generally and I don’t think I’m going to get there.  I would if they were local.
