This week, McIntosh Labs announced the MSA 5500 Streaming Integrated Amplifier. As you would expect, it has just about everything you could wish for regarding streaming technologies and platforms, including Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect. On the physical side, there are seven digital inputs, an MM Phono stage HDMI ARC, a Balanced, and several RCA inputs. The digital stage is centred around a Quad Balanced, 8-channel, 32-bit DAC. The amplifier itself claims 100W/ch into 8 Ohms or 160W into 4 Ohms.
The MSA5500 will be available in the UK starting in January through authorised McIntosh dealers with an MSRP of £9,995 GBP. McIntosh is distributed in the UK by Fine Sounds UK.
