Melco adds Roon 1.8 Update

Digital music library specialist Melco Audio has today released a new over-the-air firmware update (4.10) which brings Roon Ready integration to its five-strong EX Series of digital libraries, enabling them to exploit the full potential of Roon 1.8, itself updated this month.

Melco adds RoonThe new update, which has already been automatically sent to owners of Melco’s current EX Series (or EX Series-updated) digital music libraries, can be simply installed by users from the front panel, with just a few button presses.  Roon Ready integration adds yet another benefit to the Melco EX Series platform, which enables music playback in the highest possible quality thanks to Melco’s unrivalled digital audio engineering.  Having recently reviewed the Melco N100, I note it takes this 1.8 Update as well.

I currently have a Roon Nucleus on review here and the review should be out next week, I’m really only used to Roon 1.8 and it certainly is a fun way of approaching Music.

Melco Audio General Manager Dan Raggett, who we talked to last year said of this update,

“We continue to invest in features and quality improvements for the benefit of Melco customers old and new. We listen to our customers’ needs and provide the best solutions we can. We are thankful for all customer feedback and are delighted to introduce Roon together with these latest improvements.”

About Melco

Melco (Maki Engineering Laboratory Company) was established by Makoto Maki in 1975 in Japan. Maki, an enthusiastic audiophile, established the company to design and manufacture the finest audio components of the time; the undoubted masterpiece of the Melco line was the turntable (introduced into the UK in 1980) which set new standards in music reproduction.

From those early beginnings, Melco developed into the largest computer peripherals manufacturer in Japan (Buffalo Inc.), offering advanced products based on rigorous R&D. These included wireless routers, Ethernet data switches and storage devices such as NAS drives. Now, the company is proud to revive the highly respected Melco brand, offering discerning audiophiles high-technology network audio components in the spirit of those much revered early Melco products, while incorporating the very latest research into reliable, high-performance networked devices and storage.
