89 – Headquarters
The album got to number one in the US before being booted out by their rivals The Beatles with ‘Sgt Pepper’s’. Isn’t it ironic, as Alanis says
Bluesound Product Launch
A fine presentation of a fine product at a fine venue. There was no mention of the “S” word at the “W” Hotel and so the newly launched “Bluesound” brand had all the space it deserved
I Forget Where We Were
The difficult ‘second album’ turns out to be an ethereal, reflective, slightly downbeat but lovingly put together collection of well produced songs
88 – Da Capo
Hilariously Love were supported by The Doors, which probably sums up their career
This is All Yours
Alt-J, meaning the delta symbol you get from a Mac were one of the first artists I had on this blog. Their second offering is made to little fanfare, as far as I am aware, considering they bagged the Mercury Music Prize in 201
87 – Triangle
Nice and uncomplicated folk rock from San Francisco’s The Beau Brummels, largely unaffected by the drug infused ‘Summer of Love’
Songs of Innocence
So an album of reflection, that is growing on me I have to say, it was never going to be a revolutionary ‘Achtung Baby’, these guys are comfortable but luckily for me, good at what they do
Ryan Adams
I’m quite a big fan of the prolific, excellent, Ryan Adams, I certainly have several of his albums, with his second ‘Gold’ being my very favourite, probably in my all time top 10
Concrete Love
Going back to the ‘Concrete Love’ title, I’m not getting it, there is no mention in the lyric book or a track. I suppose we’re probably not supposed to. Anyway, it is all good.
Alarms in the Heart
The album cover to Alarms in the Heart has Tarot cards and presents, initially with a choral, chapel feel. References to Pilgrim Fathers, Gethsemene and St Peter’s complete the picture
